What workflow works best with Narrafix for audiobook production?

Narrafix is designed to simplify audiobook production by reducing the number of manual steps in the editing process. To achieve the best results, we recommend the following workflow:

🎛️ Step 1: Master before sending to Narrafix (optional)

Start by running a basic mastering pass (leveling, EQ, noise reduction) on the raw studio or narrator WAV files. Although Narrafix Auto-Cut algorithms are designed to work equally good for mastered and raw, unmastered files, providing clean, consistent audio improves Narrafix’s analysis and ensures the automated editing are highly accurate and the workflow later on is more streamlined.

🪄 Step 2: Let Narrafix handle editing and proofing

Upload your mastered WAVs chapter by chapter together with the script. Narrafix will:

  • Detect and remove misreads, repeats, and off-script speech
  • Preserve intentional repetitions (e.g., dialogue)
  • Proof the audio against the script for alignment
  • Reassemble the material naturally, including fades and breaths

This step replaces the need for manual rough editing and engineer-driven cleanup.

🔎 Step 3: Review and refine - everything in one step

After Narrafix, the workflow shifts: you no longer need an audio engineer to manually cut, assemble, or fade. Instead, a proof editor can review and fine-tune the results directly in the Narrafix Studio tool. This consolidates multiple steps (rough edit + proofing) into a single focused pass. Alternatively, you can also download the consolidated WAV-files or other formats to get this process done in the software of your choice.

↔️Step 4: Download and deliver

Whether download, proofing or easy-to-share pickup lists. You can share your results with ease in multiple formats to get the final stages done to deliver your project.

❓Why this workflow?

  • Higher accuracy: mastering before Narrafix streamlines workflow and can lead to cleaner results
  • Fewer steps: editing and proofing are combined into one streamlined stage
  • Less engineering overhead: no markers, no manual cutting, no reassembly needed
  • Faster turnaround: focus resources on proof editing and delivery, not repetitive technical work

👉 In short: Master → Narrafix → Proof Edit → Deliver.
