Is Narrafix Studio a full audio editor, and can it replace my DAW?

Even though Narrafix takes care of most of the time-consuming and complex tasks in audiobook post-production, Narrafix Studio is not a full-featured Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) — and it does not aim to fully replace professional audio software.

What Narrafix Studio is designed for

Narrafix Studio was developed to make proof-editing (fine-editing and proofing) as simple and efficient as possible. It is a browser-based tool that allows you to:

  • Review and fine-tune the results of automated editing and automated proofing
  • Proof audio against the script
  • Adjust small details such as breaths, pauses, or minor corrections
  • Share projects securely with collaborators (e.g., proof editors, narrators, or studios)
  • Create comment-markers for further DAW-editing if necessary

This streamlined approach helps reduce repetitive technical work, so you can focus on final checks and corrections.

What Narrafix Studio does not do

Unlike a full DAW, Narrafix Studio does not include:

  • Audio recording
  • Mixing or mastering features
  • Copy & paste editing or multi-track arrangements
  • Advanced plugins, effects, or sound design tools

Working together with DAWs

Narrafix is intended to be part of your production chain — not the replacement of it. After proof editing in Studio, you can:

  • Download the processed WAV files
  • Export AAF or RPP session files for use in DAWs like Pro Tools, Logic, or Reaper
  • Continue mastering, mixing, and finalizing in the software of your choice

In summary: Narrafix Studio is a specialized proof-editing environment for audiobook production, not a full audio editor. It simplifies review and fine-editing, while DAWs remain essential for recording, mastering, and advanced audio work.
