Which file formats does Narrafix support?
Narrafix works best with standardized input formats to ensure smooth processing and reliable results.
Supported formats
- Audio input: WAV (up tp 48khz and 24 Bit)
- Script input: PDF
Other formats
If your files are in different formats, you can convert them before uploading:
- Audio: AIFF, AAC, FLAC, MP3, OGG/Vorbis, WMA → convert to WAV
- Script: DOCX, RTF, EPUB, etc. → convert to PDF
Why WAV and PDF?
- WAV is uncompressed, which preserves the highest audio quality and ensures seamless editing. Narrafix also exports processed audio exclusively in WAV for technical consistency.
PDF guarantees the most reliable script display and alignment. Using other text formats can lead to misplacements or display errors.
👉 Tip: For best results, always work with uncompressed WAV audio and clean, well-formatted PDFs.
ℹ️ Background on Resolution Limit to 48khz, 24-bit WAV:
Narrafix supports audio files with a maximum sample rate of 48 kHz and a bit depth of 24-bit, as this provides more than enough quality for all common use cases - and distribution platforms and stores will reduce the quality upon delivery anyway.
There are no true 32-bit recording devices, because they only capture 24-bit data and upscale it during recording, without offering any audible improvement in quality. For voice recordings, 48 kHz / 24-bit - or even 44.1 kHz / 16-bit (CD quality) - is completely sufficient. Higher settings such as 192 kHz / 32-bit only create unnecessarily large files for voice production and performance disadvantages without any practical benefit.
